The city of Cape Town in South Africa is set to play an important role in the Man Booker International Prize 2015.  The Man Booker International Prize organisers are starting to plan for the announcement of the list of finalists, in partnership with the University of Cape Town, in March 2015. The list of finalists has traditionally been announced in a city other than London, with previous announcements having taken place in Toronto, Washington DC,  New York, Sydney and Jaipur. At the time of the longlist, Chair of judges Robert Macfarlane praised the diversity of the books in contention for the prize as ‘wonderfully various in terms of geography, form, length and subject’. The longlist, or ‘Man Booker Dozen’, of the 2013 Man Booker Prize for Fiction is announced today, Tuesday 23 July 2013.
