Andrew Miller was born in Bristol in April 1960. He grew up in the West Country and has lived in Spain, Japan, Ireland and France.
His books include Ingenious Pain (1997), winner of the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for Fiction, the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award and the Grinzane Cavour Prize in Italy; Casanova (1998); Oxygen (2001), shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize and the Whitbread Novel Award; and Pure (2011), winner of the Costa Prize for Book of the Year. Both Ingenious Pain and Casanova are currently being adapted for film.
He lives in Brighton.
