Michael Wood is an author and academic. Born in Lincoln, he attended the City School there before studying Modern Languages at Cambridge. He has taught at the universities of Cambridge, Columbia, Exeter and Princeton, where he is now Professor Emeritus of English and Comparative Literature. He writes frequently in the London Review of Books and the New York Review of Books, and his most recent longer publications are Literature and the Taste of Knowledge and Yeats and Violence. His brief life of Alfred Hitchcock, The Man Who Knew Too Much, will appear in March 2015.
