Mariella Frostrup was born in November 1962 in Oslo, Norway. She moved to Ireland as a child with her family.
Following the death of her father she moved to London, where she worked in PR for several years before going into broadcasting as a presenter and critic. She also writes for The Guardian, The Observer, The Mail on Sunday, Harpers & Queen and the New Statesman.
Mariella has been on the judging panels for various prizes, including the 2000 Booker Prize and the Best of Booker which celebrated the prize’s 40th anniversary in 2008.
Mariella presents a weekly literary programme on Sky Arts 1, The Book Show as well as Open Book on BBC Radio 4.
