Dr Harriet Harvey Wood

Harriet Harvey Wood studied mediaeval languages and literature at Edinburgh University and worked as an orchestral manager before joining the British Council, where she was head of its Literature Department for 14 years. Her publications include Memory (with A S Byatt), The Battle of Hastings, Banned Poetry (with Peter Porter) and editions of James Watson’s Choice Collection of Comic and Serious Scots Poems (Scottish Text Society), the letters of Bishop Thomas Percy and the poems of William Dunbar and she has written on Anglo-Saxon history and Sir Walter Scott. She is working at present on a biography of John Gibson Lockhart.  She has been a judge of the Booker Prize, the Whitbread Prize and the David Cohen Prize.
